Police in Doraville Monday afternoon canceled an Amber Alert for an 18-month-old toddler who police say was abducted by his father.
About 12:15 p.m., Willis Johnson surrendered to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Doraville police spokesman Gene Callaway said.
Carter Johnson, the missing child, is safe.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police in Doraville issued an Amber Alert on Friday afternoon for an 18-month-old toddler who police say was abducted by his father.
Carter Willis Johnson is believed to be in extreme danger, the police alert said. He was abducted by Willis Johnson, 31, Channel 2 Action news reported. A vehicle lookout was issued for a blue Kia Forte EX, Georgia license PWD1468.
The father was supposed to drop his son off to his mother at the Doraville Police Department on Sunday, Channel 2 reported. The parents have used that location as a meeting point.
Gene Callaway of Doraville police told Channel 2 that Willis Johnson is wanted for interference of custody.
The toddler is described as African-American, with black hair and brown eyes. He is 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds.
