British Director To Make Houston Documentary

Oscar-winning British director Kevin Macdonald is to make a documentary about the late singer Whitney Houston.

The film is the first to be endorsed by Houston's estate since her death in 2012.

Macdonald and the producers have been given permission to tell the true story of Houston's record-breaking career and troubled personal life.

The star sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and is still the only artist to chart seven consecutive US number ones.

But Houston battled drug addiction and other issues and was found drowned in a bath at a Los Angeles hotel, aged just 48.

Macdonald, who directed Marley, Touching The Void and One Day In September, will interview record label boss Clive Davis, who helped shoot Houston to stardom.

Macdonald will have access to never-before-seen footage

Macdonald is perhaps best known for directing the film The Last King Of Scotland which secured Forest Whitaker a best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.

In a statement on Houston's official website, Macdonald said: "The story that is never told about Whitney is just how brilliant she was as an artist; by many measures she had the greatest voice of the last 50 years.

"She changed the way pop music was sung - bringing it back full circle to its blues and gospel roots. She was also completely unique in being a black pop star who transcended her race globally with her work sold in countries where black artists don't sell."

He said the team will have access to "never-before-seen footage" which goes back to Houston's time singing in her church gospel choir to the day of her death.

"Although we won’t shy away from the darker parts of Whitney’s life - her descent into addiction - I want audiences to walk out of the cinema and feel positive about Whitney and her music," he said.

"I want to reveal a woman that even her most die-hard fans never knew; and a woman those new to her life and music will never forget."

Sen. Ted Cruz, in a last-ditch effort to derail Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, is trying to marshal support from governors, former rivals and other anti-Trump Republicans in advance of the make-or-break primary in Indiana Tuesday.

With polls showing him lagging behind the New York businessman in the Hoosier State, the Texas senator talked up the somewhat equivocal support he received from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Friday.

Indiana Gov. Pence says he’ll vote for Cruz but commends Trump for giving ‘voice to the frustration of millions of working Americans.’

Pence said on an Indianapolis talk-radio show that he would vote for Cruz because he is “a principled conservative who has dedicated his career to advocating the Reagan agenda.” But then, Pence added, “I particularly want to commend Donald Trump, who I think has given voice to the frustration of millions of working Americans.”

Earlier this week, Cruz tried to coordinate strategy with his other remaining GOP presidential rival, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and took the extraordinary step of naming Carly Fiorina as his running mate a day after he lost to Trump by a landslide in primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Cruz’s onetime rival, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, this week repeated his call for Republicans to vote for Cruz.

Hillary Clinton emerged this week as all but certain to secure the Democratic party’s nomination for president after a drawn-out and at times contentious battle with Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.

And with just seven weeks remaining in the presidential primaries, Clinton’s campaign has begun to pivot toward the general election – a process that will include selecting a running mate ahead of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia this July.

Ted Cruz drew headlines for taking the unusual step of naming his vice-presidential pick, despite lacking a plausible path to his party’s nomination in an increasingly forlorn effort to stop Donald Trump.

As the Texas senator stood alongside Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO who dropped out of the Republican race in February, a new wave of speculation was launched about what the Democratic ticket might look like.

For Clinton, a diverse bench offers a wide array of possibilities – ranging from rising stars within the party to calculations rooted in demographics and the electoral map in November.

Allies have floated senators from key battleground states, such as Tim Kaine andMark Warner, both of swing state Virginia, and Sherrod Brown, a senator from Ohio who is also popular with the progressive wing of the party.

Some have suggested that an African American or Latino vice-presidential candidate would help energize core constituencies of the Democratic base who twice helped enthusiastically elect Barack Obama. That shortlist could include New Jersey senator Cory Booker and former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, both of whom are African American, as well as two Hispanic members of Obama’s administration: Julián Castro, the housing secretary; and Tom Perez, the US labor chief.

Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta said an all-female ticket would also be considered, a move that would potentially shatter two glass ceilings with one stone. The Democratic Senate includes several prominent women, including progressive icon Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.

But for all the possible political machinations, allies and supporters said Clinton would be a nominee with unparalleled experience: as a former first lady, two-term senator, and secretary of state. And with a Republican party currently being torn apart at the seams by frontrunner Trump, there would be ample opportunity to draw a symbolic contrast, regardless of a vice-presidential candidate’s gender, as well as their geographic or demographic background.

“This is going to be a contrast between strength, stability, and competence and an entertainment show,” said Missouri senator Claire McCaskill, a Clinton surrogate. “If you’re going up against something that is superficial and flashy, it’s really good to have a ticket that just oozes strength and stability.”

“My ideal ticket is Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine,” she added in an endorsement of her Senate colleague from Virginia, pointing to his experience at both the federal and state level and his fluency in Spanish.

“He’s incredibly knowledgeable, a great communicator, has a firm grasp on the complexity of foreign policy, and he also understands in his bones the importance of social justice issues,” McCaskill said.

Paul Begala, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, also said he believed Clinton would first and foremost weigh who was best prepared to be one step removed from the nation’s highest office.

Although he is legally barred from coordinating with the campaign, as a consultant and adviser to Priorities of the pro-Clinton fundraising Super Pac Priorities USA Action, Begala said he was confident after watching Clinton closely for more than two decades that she would act on a similar model as Bill Clinton and Obama.

“She begins with a governing frame, not a campaign frame,” Begala said, adding that he recalled Clinton being impressed with Obama’s selection of Joe Biden.

“He has been a really terrific partner for the president, and that will matter to her a lot. Who can be a really good partner and help me govern?”

Begala also downplayed the conventional wisdom that a running mate must bring a certain balance to the ticket. Al Gore, for example, was a choice who, if anything, reinforced many of the characteristics embodied by Bill Clinton – a young southerner and face of the so-called New Democrats.

Begala, who ran Clinton’s 1992 campaign, said he had been leaning toward Senator Harris Wofford of Pennsylvania for more of a conventional political balance.

He then recounted asking Bill Clinton why he ultimately chose Gore. “Bill turned to me and said: ‘Because I might die, Pauly.’”

One key factor that sets apart this particular election is the uncertainty surrounding the opposing party.

Although Trump remains the clear frontrunner, having swept this week’s primaries on the east coast, it remains possible that thebombastic billionaire will not secure the 1,237 delegates required to clinch the Republican nomination. Party elites are gearing up for a contested convention in Cleveland in July, where efforts to thwart Trump may reach a fever pitch.

One senior Democrat who advises political campaigns said the assessment might differ if a candidate such as Marco Rubio, a bilingual Cuban American, were to resurface on the Republican side. The senator from Florida, who suspended his presidential campaign last month, has categorically ruled out any interest in the vice-presidency, and aides said they did not anticipate that to change.

Ohio governor John Kasich would also be a more formidable addition to a Republican ticket. But the last Republican establishment candidate standing has struggled in the delegate race and remains an unlikely savior to the party’s woes.


There is, of course, little precedence to indicate that vice-presidential picks are significantly consequential – with Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor chosen by Republican nominee John McCain in 2008, ranking as perhaps the lone exception in recent history who clearly caused lasting damage to the credibility of a campaign.

Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat backing Clinton, said while he was pleased to see his colleagues Kaine, Booker and Klobuchar named as potential contenders, the vetting process itself was little more than “an interesting parlor game”.

“I think a bad vice-presidential pick can sink your candidacy, but I’m not sure there are a lot of voters that make a choice to vote for a candidate based on their vice-president,” Murphy said.

Trump's GOP primary sweep: It's about jobs

Donald Trump has steamrolled his GOP opponents with blunt promises to voters on a range of issues, from walling out immigrants to cutting taxes.

But one issue stands out in his five-state primary sweep Tuesday. It's about jobs.

"I'm going to bring jobs back from China, Mexico Japan, Vietnam," Trump declared in the South Carolina GOP debate in February. "They are taking our jobs. They are taking our wealth."

With almost all the votes tallied, Trump won every one of the 107 counties in the five states electing delegates to the GOP national convention in Cleveland. And, once again, he did best in counties with the highest unemployment rates, a CNBC analysis of county-level primary voting data shows.

The victory extends Trump's pattern of big wins in counties with jobless rates higher than the national average.

Of the 172 delegates up for grabs in GOP primaries in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, Trump walked away with 109 of them, according to NBC News. Ohio Gov. John Kasichpicked up five and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won only three.

Trump's performance all but fully derailed a last-ditch, apparently ineffective, "Stop Trump" deal between Kasich and Cruz to join forces to prevent the billionaire developer from winning the 1,237 delegates he needs to clinch the nomination on the first ballot.

As he has in the 46 states and territories that have voted so far, Trump turned in his strongest showing in Northeast counties that are still feeling the lingering effects of the massive job losses of the Great Recession. Some 74 of 107 counties in the five states that voted Tuesday have jobless rates above the national average of 5 percent, according to the latest data available.

To gauge how well Trump is faring with unemployed voters, CNBC has tracked GOP primary results in more than 2,200 counties in the states that have voted so far. (County-level data was not available for all states that have voted.) Of those counties, more than 1,400 had jobless rates above the national average of 5 percent.

Trump has won about three-fourths of those counties with higher-than-average unemployment. Cruz won about 20 percent of those counties, while Kasich won just 2 percent of them.

While Trump has been able to count on a big lead in the popular vote, the GOP's arcane rules of electing delegates — about which he has complained loudly — could work against him.

In three of the five Tuesday primaries (Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island), for example, the GOP rules allocate three delegates based on the winner in each Congressional district, with additional "at-large" statewide delegates. Tuesday's biggest single delegate prize was Pennsylvania, but those delegate counts are more problematic, because they're not all bound to the winning candidate.

Trump secured Pennsylvania's 17 statewide delegates — party members already chosen to go to Cleveland — who are bound to vote for the candidate who wins the most votes, but only on the first ballot.

The remaining 54 delegates were chosen from Pennsylvania's 18 congressional districts — but they're not bound on the first vote. That means none of those delegates are reliably in Trump's camp.

"You can go in there and vote for Trump, and vote for three delegates that are three votes against Trump," said Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., a state co-chairman of Trump's campaign, told the Associated Press.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clintonextended her solid lead against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, thanks in part to a big fundraising lead in Tuesday's five primary states. 

In those states, Clinton has raised nearly $15 million, almost three times Sanders, according to OpenSecrets.org.

Of the 384 delegates at stake in those five states, Clinton picked up 204 to bring here total to 2117 of the 2,382 needed to win her party's nomination in Philadelphia. Sanders picked up 146 to bring his total to 1330 — leaving him a very narrow path to a nomination.

Why Britain won't vote to leave the EU

Among the multiple existential challenges facing the European Union this year – refugees, populist politics, German-inspired austerity, government bankruptcy in Greece and perhaps Portugal – one crisis is well on its way to resolution. Britain will not vote to leave the EU.


This confident prediction may seem to be contradicted by polls showing roughly 50% support for “Brexit” in the June referendum. And British public opinion may move even further in the “Out” direction for a while longer, as euroskeptics ridicule the “new deal” for Britain agreed at the EU summit on 19 February.






EU referendum: a timetable for the UK

Nonetheless, it is probably time for the world to stop worrying. The politics and economics of the question virtually guarantee that British voters will back EU membership, even though this may not become apparent in public opinion polls until a few weeks, or even days, before the vote.


To understand the dynamics that strongly favor an “In” vote, start with the politics. Until this month’s deal, Britain’s leaders were not seriously making the case against Brexit. After all, prime minister David Cameron and his government had to pretend that they would contemplate a breakup if the EU rejected their demands.


Under these circumstances, it was impossible for either Labour politicians or business leaders to advocate an EU deal that Cameron himself was not yet ready to promote. The Out lobby therefore enjoyed a virtual monopoly of public attention. This situation may briefly persist, even though the EU deal has now been agreed, because Cameron has no wish to antagonise his party’s implacable eurosceptics until it is absolutely necessary; but as the referendum approaches, this political imbalance will abruptly reverse.


One reason is Cameron’s decision to release his ministers from party discipline during the referendum campaign. Initially viewed as a sign of weakness, Cameron’s move has turned out to be a masterstroke. Having been offered the freedom to “vote your conscience” on the EU deal, every significant Conservative politician has come round to support Cameron.


These newfound EU loyalists include two of the most potentially influential eurosceptics, London mayor Boris Johnson and home secretary Theresa May. As a result, the Out campaign has been left effectively leaderless and has already split into two rival factions – one driven mainly by anti-immigrant and protectionist sentiment, the other determined to concentrate on neoliberal economics and free trade.


As the political tide turns, it can be confidently predicted that the British media and business opinion will follow, mainly because of direct financial interests. For example, Rupert Murdoch, whose outlets dominate the media landscape, needs membership in the EU single market to consolidate his satellite TV businesses in Britain, Germany, and Italy. Another powerful motivator for Murdoch, as well as for other media proprietors and business leaders, is to be on the winning side and to maintain good relations with Cameron, unless they see overwhelming evidence that he will lose.


That brings us to the main reason for ignoring current opinion polls: only when Britain starts seriously debating the costs and benefits of leaving the EU – and this may not happen until a few weeks before the referendum – will voters realize that Brexit would mean huge economic costs for Britain and no political benefits whatsoever.


The economic challenges of Brexit would be overwhelming. The Out campaign’s main economic argument – that Britain’s huge trade deficit is a secret weapon, because the EU would have more to lose than Britain from a breakdown in trade relations – is flatly wrong. Britain would need to negotiate access to the European single market for its service industries, whereas EU manufacturers would automatically enjoy virtually unlimited rights to sell whatever they wanted in Britain under global World Trade Organization rules.


Margaret Thatcher was the first to realise that Britain’s specialisation in services – not only finance, but also law, accountancy, media, architecture, pharmaceutical research and so on – makes membership in the EU single market critical. It makes little economic difference to Germany, France, or Italy whether Britain is an EU member or simply in the WTO.


Britain would therefore need an EU association agreement, similar to those negotiated with Switzerland or Norway, the only two significant European economies outside the EU. From the EU’s perspective, the terms of any British deal would have to be at least as stringent as those in the existing association agreements. To grant easier terms would immediately force matching concessions to Switzerland and Norway. Worse still, any special favors for Britain would set a precedent and tempt other lukewarm EU members to make exit threats and demand renegotiation.


Among the conditions accepted by Norway and Switzerland that the EU would surely regard as non-negotiable are four that completely negate the political objectives of Brexit. Norway and Switzerland must abide by all EU single market standards and regulations, without any say in their formulation. They agree to translate all relevant EU laws into their domestic legislation without consulting domestic voters. They contribute substantially to the EU budget. And they must accept unlimited EU immigration, resulting in a higher share of EU immigrants in the Swiss and Norwegian populations than in the UK.


If Britain rejected these encroachments on national sovereignty, its service industries would be locked out of the single market. The French, German, and Irish governments would be particularly delighted to see UK-based banks and hedge funds shackled by EU regulations, and UK-based businesses involved in asset management, insurance, accountancy, law, and media forced to transfer their jobs, head offices, and tax payments to Paris, Frankfurt, or Dublin.


When confronted with this exodus of high-value service jobs and businesses, Britain would surely balk and accept the intrusive regulations entailed by Swiss and Norwegian-style EU association agreements. Ultimately, Brexit would not only force a disruptive renegotiation of economic relations; it would also lead to a loss of political sovereignty for Britain.


Or maybe just for England, given that Scotland would probably leave the UK and rejoin the EU, taking many of London’s service jobs to Edinburgh in the process. Once Britain’s political, business, and media leaders start drawing attention to these hard facts of life after Brexit, we can be confident that voters will decide to stay in the EU.

Весь поисковый трафик, который она привлекла, оказался нецелевым, т.е. люди, пришедшие с поиска, не стали ни подписчиками, ни клиентами (количество подписчиков и выручка остались такими же, как до публикации статьи). Почему так произошло? Потому что на тот момент у Нейла Пателя не было четкого портрета своего идеального клиента. Из этого следует простой вывод:

Если ваш идеальный клиент похож на Петю, то вам нужно быть осторожным при выборе ключевых слов и общего посыла вашего контента. Например, если Петя ищет мобильный телефон, вряд ли он будет вбивать в поисковик фразу «мобильный телефон». Более вероятно, что он напишет что-то вроде «Nokia Lumia разрешение камеры». Разница между этими двумя фразами огромная, потому что технари отлично разбираются в технике и обычно ищут конкретную информацию по конкретному продукту, который они планируют купить.

1. Лучше не копировать чужой текстовый контент, т.к. поисковики очень не любят, когда вы берете чужой материал, не добавляя в него никакой ценности.
